Pacific Region Investment Conference -
Educational Component (Student Competition)
For the last two years, the Asia Pacific Association for Fiduciary Studies has recognized one student, over the age of 18, at each college and university that is an APAFS member, with an award that includes financial assistance to attend the annual Pacific Region Investment conferences. Each award consisted of roundtrip airfare from the island of each institution to the conference (held in Manila for the last two competitions), airport-hotel transfers, lodging at the conference hotel, and $75 per diem for food and miscellaneous expenses.
One student each from the University of Guam, Guam Community College, the Northern Marianas College, Palau Community College, the College of Micronesia – FSM, the College of the Marshall Islands and University of the South Pacific presented their winning papers at the annual investment conference.
This type of component to the annual conference allows students, future members of the boards of retirement funds, social security funds and trusts, the opportunity to learn from regional financial leaders. The more expertise they develop at an early stage of their education and careers, the better the islands will be when it comes to fiduciary responsibility and an understanding of economic issues at play.
Here we highlight these students and where they are now in our ‘Hall of Fame’. |
